Louisville, Kentucky - (The Hosting News) - November 2, 2007 - Managed hosting and colocation company, Hosting.com, is offering holiday promotions, to donate laptop computers to children in developing countries, through non-profit group, OLPC, with one laptop per child during November and December.
On behalf of its clients for every hosted web server sold, Hosting.com, will donate the funds necessary for delivery of the laptops. Every $200 donation to OLPC pays for and delivers one XO Laptop. Through this holiday promotion, Hosting.com anticipates donating at a minimum $10,000 or 50 XO Laptops.
Guided by the mission to ''ensure all school-aged children in the developing world are able to engage effectively with their own personal laptop networked to the world,'' OLPC provides children specially designed XO Laptops. The XO Laptop contains a wireless router, can be re-charged by human power, is the size of a textbook, weighs less than a lunch box, and was designed to be highly durable. Current countries participating in the program include Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, Central America, Ethiopia, Libya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Pakistan, and Thailand.
