Hosting.com Colocation Web Hosting Firm, Considers Data Center Expansion

Louisville, Kentucky - (The Hosting News) - March 11, 2008 - Managed hosting and colocation company, Hosting.com, is reviewing and considering the potential of a Tier 4 data center in the heart of Silicon Valley, California, with over 60,000 square feet, to offer expanded infrastructure and power efficiencies.

Anticipating a high level of interest in this data center, Hosting.com is pre-selling space ahead of the scheduled grand opening. With the growing demand for business continuance and disaster recovery options, this colocation space is expected to sell rapidly.

In addition, Hosting.com recently designed its San Francisco data center to be climate neutral, and projectes that the amount of carbon it will neutralize is the equivalent of not burning 260,000 gallons of gasoline a year. In addition to pursuing green initiatives in Hosting.com's data centers through the use of green power, energy efficient data center design, and enterprise virtualization solutions, Hosting.com pays for climate neutrality for the homes of all of its employees.

Data centers in the United States utilize between 1% and 2% of all power consumption, and some experts believe that this percentage will rise dramatically in the future with the growing number of data centers due to the expansion of the Internet as a means to delivering content, software and services. Given the relatively small number of data center in the country and their large power consumption requirements, Hosting.com is urging legislators and business leaders to evaluate energy consumption sources for data centers and implement some of the easy, practical steps that are available today to reduce carbon emissions.

Hosting.com's San Francisco facility is located in downtown San Francisco, a few blocks from AT and T Park, offering managed colocation hosting solutions as well as additional redundancy, disaster recovery, and business continuance solutions to Hosting.com's global customer base.

Since 1996, Hosting.com has provided managed hosting, colocation, disaster recovery and business continuance services to a global customer with a high level of security, reliability and responsiveness. Hosting.com monitors, manages, and enhances the web-based platforms of Web 2.0 companies, software as a service providers (SaaS), content distribution networks (CDN), and medium to large enterprises whose web presence is crucial and high availability mandatory. Hosting.com currently owns and operates its proprietary content delivery grid (CDG) via data center facilities in Louisville, Kentucky; Irvine, California; San Francisco, California; and Boston, Massachusetts.
